Reed selected as new S.C. Youth Challenge Academy Director

The Adjutant General for South Carolina, U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Robert E. Livingston, Jr, announces LaToya Reed as the new South Carolina Youth Challenge Academy Director effective February 2, 2018. This announcement comes with the recent retirement of Jackie Fogel who has served in this position for 25 years. Reed’s previous experience includes working at the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Department of Social Services, particularly with the Chafee Independent Living program. This programs helps youth as they transition out of the foster care system. Reed earned her Master’s Degree in Human Services Counseling- Marriage and Family from Liberty University along with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Youth Ministry Studies from Columbia International University. She is a native of Columbia, South Carolina, and a 1996 graduate of Dreher High School. The Youth Challenge Academy is designed to help young men and women learn basic life skills and the education necessary to be successful. “I am looking forward to making the South Carolina Youth Challenge Academy one of the best in the nation,” said Reed. “I love working with our at-risk youth because it’s an honor and privilege watching their lives change.” Additional information about the S.C.
