BRIGADIER GENERAL DAVID M. JENKINS

Assistant Adjutant General for Army

Brigadier General David M. Jenkins is a native of South Carolina where he received his primary and postsecondary education. He began his military career as a ROTC Cadet at S.C State University and received his commission on 24 May 1990. BG Jenkins has served in the S.C. National Guard for the past 28 years and has held a number of key positions including Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Executive Officer, and Battalion Commander and Brigade Commander.  He has also served in a number of key staff assignments to include SIGO of the 1/118th Infantry Battalion, S3 of the 218th Regiment, Deputy J6 of the Joint Forces Headquarters, and Chief of Staff at the 263rd AAMDC.  BG Jenkins last assignment was CIO G/J6. 
 
Brigadier General Jenkins deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 as the Strategic Plans Communication Officer for the JNCC-A and has supported numerous federal and state missions over the past 15 years to include hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters.
 
BG Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from S.C. State University, a Master degree in International Business (Exec. MBA) from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, and a Master in Strategic Studies from the Army’s Senior Staff College in Carlisle, VA. BG Jenkins’ formal military education includes the Signal Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff Officer School, the Advanced Joint Staff College (AJPME), and the U.S. Army War College.
 
BG Jenkins has received numerous military awards and honors during his distinguished career including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, (with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.
 
In his civilian career, BG Jenkins works for Lexmark International where he serves as the Senior Director of Strategic Operations and Technical Delivery (SD&TD). He is married to his wife of 18-years Dionne and has three children; son Dillon (13yrs), and twin daughters Sydney and Aubrey (11yrs).
