The South Carolina National Guard Employment Services Division serves unemployed Service and Family members with a broad network of statewide resources. We understand the challenges of transitioning service members and work on an individual basis to help military job seekers find meaningful civilian employment – not just a job for the sake of a job, but a fulfilling career based on your unique talents, training and interests.

Operation Palmetto Employment

A statewide initiative launched by Governor Nikki Haley and supported by the S.C. National Guard, the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce, and other business and state agency partners, Operation Palmetto Employment is a commitment to help our service members, family members and veterans find meaningful civilian careers.

  • To accurately identify South Carolina’s military community

  • To streamline the employment process, reducing duplicated efforts of multiple agencies and service providers to increase efficiency and fiscal responsibility.

  • To leverage military expertise, enhancing work-ready communities statewide.

  • To ensure cross-functional collaboration between providers and employers.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve

South Carolina ESGR seeks to develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees.
The nation’s Reserve components (total Guard and Reserve forces from all branches of the military) comprise approximately 48 percent of our total available military manpower.
The current National Defense Strategy indicates that the Guard and Reserve will be full partners in the fully integrated Total Force.

We will develop and promote employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and service members. South Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve volunteers present ARINC a “Patriot Award” as a result of a nomination from their employee who serves in the Reserves.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division receives Department of Defense “Above and Beyond” award for extraordinary support of employees who also serve in the Guard and Reserve.
