Kevin Hicklin, a heavy equipment operator assigned to the 172nd Engineer Battalion, South Carolina Army National Guard, operates a 2.5 yard scoop loader to load an M-916 tractor truck with fill dirt in Walterboro, S.C., during Vigilant Guard, March 7, 2015. The fill dirt will be used to reinforce roads connecting Bear Island to the mainland for hurricane destruction prevention. Vigilant Guard is a series of federally funded disaster-response drills conducted by National Guard units working with federal, state and local emergency management agencies and first responders.
